Stanley Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

(Stanley, ND) — The suspect in a deadly shooting in Mountrail County is pleading not guilty. According to court records, 33-year-old Malcolm Mayors waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Mayors was charged with felony murder in the shooting death 39-year-old James Arsenault May 24th in Stanley. Authorities said Mayors went to the Mountrail County Correctional Center after the shooting and told officers he had “taken drugs” and shot Arsenault, who he referred to as his “friend.” A pretrial conference is scheduled for March. Mayors remains in Mountrail County Correctional Center on a million-dollar bond.
