(Williston, ND) — State geologists say there is a “significant” amount of untapped oil buried deep in the Bakken of northwestern North Dakota. A new study by the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources claims that up to 250-million barrels, or over ten-billion gallons, of oil could be extracted just 50 feet lower than a reservoir already being drilled. State geologist Ted Starns told “Inforum” that to produce such a volume would take around 600 new wells.
