State Lawmakers Adjourn After Passing Record Budget

(Bismarck, ND) — State lawmakers finalized a record 19-point-six billion dollar two-year budget at the end of session early Sunday morning. Republican leaders say the period was a productive one, facilitating income and property tax cuts and boosts to child care, education, and animal agriculture. Governor Burgum last week signed a 515-million dollar tax cut package as one of over 530 bills signed this session. Democratic leaders agreed on the new property tax models, but said the state’s income tax relief disproportionately benefits the wealthiest constituents. In total, legislators introduced nearly one-thousand bills and resolutions.
