Sweeping Transgender Bill Signed Into Law

(Bismarck, ND) — A new law gives North Dakota public school teachers the right to ignore students’ preferred pronouns. The law, signed by Governor Doug Burgum Monday, also requires teachers to tell parents or guardians if students are identifying as transgender in school. Students must also have prior approval from a parent or guardian to use the bathroom of their choice. Much of the law also extends to government offices.
