Teen Gets Life In Prison For Deadly Shooting

(Bismarck, ND) — A teen convicted of a deadly Bismarck shooting last summer has been sentenced to life in prison. It happened at a Motel 6, where then-16-year-old Jesse Taylor Jr shot and killed 28-year-old Maurice Shield. Taylor was charged as an adult, and he claimed at trial that the shooting was in self-defense. That claim was discounted by the judge at his September trial. Taylor was sentenced on Thursday, and he has 30 days to appeal his sentence.
