(Washington, D.C.) — Three officers from North Dakota have been added to the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Washington D.C. The officers are Jake Wallin, Paul Martin, and Charles McCarthy, and they were honored during a candlelight vigil on Monday. Officer Wallin was killed in an ambush shooting in Fargo last year, and Deputy Paul Martin died when he was struck by a stolen vehicle during a pursuit in Mercer County. Sheriff Charles McCarthy drowned after falling through ice back in 1874. The officer’s names were engraved into the memorial last month.
