(Minot, ND) — A judge is granting the defense’s request for a hearing to discuss the possible postponement of Nicole Rice’s trial. Rice is accused of murdering her roommate, Anita Knutson, nearly 17 years ago in Minot. The defense had filed a motion for continuance citing the investigation of Minot’s police chief, an evidence report submitted by prosecutors last month, and the substitution of a new attorney for Rice. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Rice’s trial is scheduled to begin in January in Grand Forks.
