(St. John, ND) — The Turtle Mountain Tribe is getting two-point-seven-million dollars for improved internet access. The tribe said Tuesday that the funding was awarded by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and will allow 200 tribal households to get prepaid broadband services for affordable internet access. It will also provide about one-thousand broadband-connected devices for tribal residents, institutions and small businesses. The tribe says it plans to use the funding to launch a digital platform that would improve access to tribal services.
