(Bismarck, ND) — The Bismarck City Commission has approved the new updated flood risk map, ending their fight with FEMA over flood insurance maps. The vote comes nearly two years after FEMA released updated preliminary flood risk maps for Bismarck and Burleigh County. The city has been at odds with FEMA for more than a year over the plan after receiving complaints from locals. Since no one asked them to appeal the plan, commissioners agreed to approve the rate maps and flood insurance study by FEMA’s deadline.
