West Fargo Police Department Implementing VR Training

(West Fargo, ND) — The West Fargo Police Department will be the first in North Dakota to train its officers using virtual reality technology. The department plans on spending 95-thousand dollars on a virtual training program called “Street Smarts VR”. West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielsen says the program will “push officers to the next level with training on hundreds of scenarios”. It will include an active shooter training module called “Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training”, which the FBI calls the “gold standard” for active shooter training.
