(Williston, ND) — The Williston Fire Department says they have been seeing a record amount of emergency calls this year. According to Fire Chief Matt Clark, the department is seeing an 18-percent increase in calls compared to how it was in 2021. Eighty-percent of the calls are related to medical emergencies, while the other 20-percent are for fires. Clark says that the area’s growing population may be a reason for increase. Overall, the department has received over five-thousand-two-hundred calls in 2023 so far.
