3M Announces Settlement With Public Water Suppliers Over Forever Chemicals

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota-based 3M says a federal judge has approved a settlement with more than 12-thousand public water suppliers nationwide. The settlement announced last year resolves a class-action lawsuit over water contamination caused by so-called “forever chemicals” linked to 3M products. The company will pay just over ten-billion dollars to the water systems for testing, remediation and treatment over the next 13 years. The company reached an 850-million dollar contamination settlement with the state of Minnesota in 2018.
