ACLU Sues Over New Iowa Abortion Ban

(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa’s new abortion ban is facing legal challenges. Abortion providers and the ACLU of Iowa have filed a lawsuit to stop the legislation which would ban most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Republican Governor Kim Reynolds is set to sign the bill into law tomorrow. The ACLU argues the ban could be viewed as unconstitutional, saying it will prevent thousands of Iowa residents from getting access to essential abortion care. A judge will hear arguments on the matter tomorrow.
