Bar Owner Seeks Damages From City For Closure

(Des Moines, Iowa) — The owner of the Zora Bar and Rooftop on Ingersoll is filing a counterclaim against the city of Des Moines. Edwin Allen is asking for 10-million dollars for what’s being described as reputation loss, loss of revenue, pain and suffering. According to the counterclaim, the bar has since closed. It all comes after the city filed a petition with the court earlier in July asking that Zora be declared a public safety nuisance.
