(Des Moines, IA) — People who are found guilty of trafficking children under 18 in Iowa could face up to life in prison after a bill passed by the state legislature was signed into law yesterday. The new law raises penalties for all human trafficking crimes. Another proposal signed into law will move Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement officers to the Iowa State Patrol. The change will be official on July 1st. The move looks to improve safety through more efficient, consistent training.
