(Minneapolis, MN) — A former Minneapolis City Council member will again try to unseat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in next year’s Democratic primary. Don Samuels announced his candidacy yesterday. Samuels challenged Omar in last year’s Democratic primary and lost by less than 25-hundred votes. Samuels criticized Omar for showing a lack of leadership and having a confrontational style. Omar defended her record in a statement yesterday and accused Samuels of accepting donations from right-wing groups that also support former President Donald Trump.
