Demolition Underway Of Partially Collapsed Davenport Apartment Building

(Davenport, IA) — Demolition is underway in Davenport on a six-story apartment building that partially collapsed late last month. The city says it’s likely the building contains asbestos and other potentially hazardous material. Parts of the 116-year-old brick, steel, and concrete structure fell on May 28th, killing three people, hurting several others, and leaving dozens without a home. Earlier this week, building owner Andrew Wold pleaded guilty to failing to keep the building in a safe condition, paying less than 400 dollars in fines and court costs.
