(Helena, MT) — A Montana education group wants to see full property taxes collected across the state. The Montana Quality Education Coalition filed a lawsuit yesterday against all counties in the state pushing to collect the full 95 mill tax in order to avoid negative impacts to schools. However, county officials believe the mill tax is too high and think it will cause harm to taxpayers across Montana. Those officials believe the mill tax should be capped at a lower number below 78 mills. The lawsuit was filed with the state Supreme Court.
