(Stearns County, MN) — A federal lawsuit has been filed over the 2022 death of a man in Stearns County. The family of 37-year-old Nickolas Norberg filed the lawsuit Thursday with their attorney saying he suffered a traumatic brain injury and struggled with what’s called “huffing.” The lawsuit says Norberg could not stand on his own, was struggling to breathe and believed he was dying, but the emergency department doctor discharged him after about an hour and “without performing a complete examination and cardiovascular workup.” An autopsy found he died from cardiac dysfunction and he had told police several times that he couldn’t breathe.
