Former MN Teacher Of The Year Charged With Criminal Sexual Conduct

(Minneapolis, MN) — A former Minnesota Teacher of the Year is facing charges for allegedly grooming and sexually assaulting a former student. Thirty-eight-year-old Abdul Jameel Wright was charged with criminal sexual conduct yesterday in Hennepin County. The victim says Wright assaulted her multiple times while she was a 14-year-old student at Harvest Best Academy in Minneapolis. The alleged assaults happened between 2016 and 2017 while she was in eighth grade. Wright was Minnesota’s Teacher of the Year in 2016.
