Gender-Affirming Care Ban Put On Hold in Montana

(Helena, MT) — A new law banning gender-affirming care for minors in Montana is being put on hold. A Missoula County district court judge granted a preliminary injunction against the law yesterday, which was scheduled to take effect on Sunday. This means young people in the Treasure State can continue seeking out and receiving gender-affirming medical care. The judge believes there’s a stronger argument that the law would cause more harm to minors than good. The order also argued the move is more to “ban an outcome deemed undesirable by the Montana Legislature veiled as protection for minors.”
