Gianforte Gets Wildfire Outlook For 2023

(Helena, MT) — Governor Greg Gianforte is expressing the importance of preparing for wildfires in Montana. The state’s top executive got a rundown of the 2023 fire season outlook yesterday from the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, as well as the Northern Rockies Coordinating Group. Officials expect to see warm and dry weather into the fall, resulting in an above normal fire season across western and northwest Montana. Gianforte said it’s important for everybody to do their part to prevent wildfires from happening and “reduce the burden on our firefighters.” The governor’s office noted nearly nine out of ten wildfires are human caused.
