Injuries, Chemical Spill Reported Following Thursday Vehicle Crash Near Maxwell, NE

(Maxwell, NE) — State and local authorities are on the scene of yesterday afternoon’s vehicle crash that resulted in what officials say was a “major chemical spill” near Maxwell, Nebraska. Troopers say two semi tractor-trailers were involved in the crash, during which an unknown number of people were injured. Authorities say North Platte police were called to assist members of the Nebraska hazardous Incident Team following the incident on along Interstate 80. As of last night, officers reportedly had closed the interstate in both directions, re-routing traffic to Highway 30 between Brady and North Platte in both directions. Cause is under investigation.
