(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is filing an appeal with the state’s Supreme Court in defense of the Fetal Heartbeat Law. The Iowa Supreme Court will agree to hear the appeal after a Polk County judge temporarily blocked the law in July. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed the law that summer month, banning abortions after six weeks. Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart says the majority of Iowa does not want that bill passed. Currently, in Iowa, abortion is banned after 20 weeks.
