Iowa Farmland Owner Trends Shift Since 1980s

(Ames, IA) — Iowa farmers and land-owners generally have achieved a higher level of education than their parents and grandparents. Iowa State University researcher Wendong Zhang says more than two-thirds of farmers have postsecondary education. When the study began in the 1980s, 40-percent of farmers and landowners had a college education. The survey covered a wide range of farm ownership topics.
