Judge Rules Against Rep. Zephyr

(Helena, MT) — A judge is ruling against Montana’s first openly transgender lawmaker in her bid to get back on the House floor. Missoula Democrat Zooey Zephyr tried to return through a court order but was denied yesterday. She claimed her rights were violated after House Republicans voted to censure her last month. Zephyr upset a number of GOP state lawmakers last month after saying those who voted to ban gender-affirming care for minors would have “blood on your hands.” Montana Attorney General Austin Kndusen cheered the ruling in a statement, calling it a victory for “the separation of powers enshrined in our Constitution.”
