(Helena, MT) — Montana is appealing after a judge blocked the state’s ban on social media app TikTok from going into effect. Attorney General Austin Knudsen made the move in federal court Tuesday, nearly a month after the judge issued a preliminary injunction against the law. When making the decision, the judge said the ban “oversteps state power and infringes on the constitutional rights of users.” Montana was the first state to issue a ban on the Chinese-owned video-sharing app last May. The state also faces a separate lawsuit from users of the app.
