Man Fatally Shot By Iowa Deputy Was Armed With Pellet Gun

(Franklin County, IA) — The man who was fatally shot by an Iowa sheriff’s deputy this week was armed with a pellet gun. The Iowa Division of Criminal says 30-year-old Matt Davis was arguing with his family who locked themselves inside a home in Sheffield and called 911. When deputies arrived, they ordered Davis to drop the gun, but he refused and pointed the gun at passing vehicles and deputies. Deputies shot Davis, hitting him once. Medical personnel responded but Davis died at the scene.
