Man Sentenced For Shooting At Police

(Granite Falls, MN) — A Granite Falls man has been sentenced for shooting at police officers. William Edward Schindler was convicted of first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer after he shot at three police officers as they were executing a search warrant at a residence earlier this year. A bullet struck one of the officers in the torso, but he was not seriously injured. While Schindler was initially charged with seven felonies, he agreed to plead guilty to the single attempted murder charge as part of a plea deal. At a recent sentencing hearing, he was sentenced to 17-and-a-half years in prison.
