Man Sentenced In Fatal Drunk Driving Crash Of 12-Year-Old Boy In Wright County

(Wright County, MN) — The man accused of killing a 12-year-old boy in a drunk driving crash in Wright County last summer was sentenced yesterday. Thirty-seven-year-old Austin Copsey was given a 48-month stayed sentence with multiple conditions, including ten years of probation and periods of confinement. He was also ordered to perform one-hundred hours of community service every year. Back in July, Copsey crashed a UTV in Otsego, killing Jesse Hooper, who was the son of Elk River Firefighter Tony Hooper. A field test showed that Copsey’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit to drive.
