Mankato Officials More Optimistic About Planned Upgrades To Sewage Plant

(Mankato, MN) — Officials in Mankato are feeling more optimistic about getting started with planned upgrades to a regional sewage plant that have been stalled due to a lack of funding and increasing construction costs. Prospects began looking up earlier this year after the state legislature approved 35-million dollars for the project. Another state grant worth seven-million dollars is coming, and members of Congress are working on a federal allocation that could add three to five-million to the project. Mankato leaders say they are confident enough in the funding that they plan to ask for bids in January, in hopes of starting construction in the spring.
