(Minneapolis, MN) — There’s a crisis of car thefts in Minneapolis. New numbers show that there have been about 47-hundred vehicle thefts in the city in 2023, which averages to about 24 car thefts a day. That’s a 70-percent increase from a similar time frame last year. The potentially record-setting car theft numbers in Minneapolis come as St. Paul has seen a 32-percent decline in similar thefts over the same time period. Authorities there point to a more proactive approach at getting known car thieves off the streets of St. Paul for the reduction of thefts in that city.
