(St. Paul, MN) — A group of independent contractors who work for the Minnesota court system could stage a walkout next week. Court interpreters around the state are upset that Minnesota has failed to increase their pay relative to inflation. Interpreters will receive a 16-percent pay increase to 65-dollars an hour on Monday, but they say they should be making closer to 100-dollars an hour and get reimbursed more for travel and mileage expenses. Several dozen interpreters say they will refuse job assignments next week to protest the situation.
