(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be cracking down on drinking and boating this July 4th. Authorities say there will be no warnings or second chances for anyone caught boating under the influence this year. The effort is part of a national campaign called “Operation Dry Water”. Increased patrols will take place, and paramedics will be riding in boats with deputies to cut down on response time. According to the DNR, alcohol is the main factor in more than half of the boating deaths in the state.
