(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota’s food shelves are seeing record demand and are asking the state for additional support. State food shelves were visited at least seven-and-half-million times last year, breaking a record set in 2022. Food shelf directors were in St. Paul yesterday to support a measure that would give their organizations five-million dollars in annual support as well as a one-time, two-million dollar boost. The state has previously used federal funds to help local food shelves, but this is the first lawmakers have proposed using direct state funding to support anti-hunger efforts.
