MN Legislature To Adjourn Without Passing Bonding Bill, ERA Measure

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota lawmakers will head home from St. Paul after failing to pass several bills before time ran out last night. DFL lawmakers in the Senate tried to push through several measures before the midnight voting deadline but were met with resistance from Republican senators. The midnight deadline arrived with no vote on the state bonding bill or the DFL-sponsored Equal Rights Amendment, killing them for the year unless a special session is called. A bill to legalize sports betting also died over the weekend, though bills to raise pay for rideshare drivers and speed up licenses for cannabis retailers will head to the governor’s desk. The legislature will meet today for a few ceremonial activities before adjourning.
