Montana Sees Massive Drop In Children’s Medicaid Coverage

(Helena, MT) — Montana has seen a massive drop in Medicaid coverage for children. A new report from Georgetown University shows a 27 percent drop in coverage for children between April and December of last year. That’s the second biggest decrease in the entire country. More than 133-thousand kids had coverage in April of last year before the number dropped to below 98-thousand by the end of the year. The report shows Montana’s decrease was just a fraction behind leader South Dakota. A Gianforte administration spokesperson told the Daily Montanan that overall Medicaid coverage has returned to pre-pandemic levels.
