(Helena, MT) — Teaching in Montana is about to get a little more expensive for educators. A fee schedule was approved by the Board of Education earlier this month that will increase how much educators pay for new licenses or license renewals. Those fees will now cost 70-dollars for five years with a 25-dollar fee on top of that. The cost of those fees had been about six-dollars per year for the last three decades. One teacher told the Montana Free Press the amount isn’t necessarily the issue, but how those fees are increasing when Montana’s teachers have some of the lowest average salaries in the country.
