Municipal Cannabis Store Could Raise Tax Revenue

(Crookston, MN) — The question about whether to pursue a city-controlled cannabis store is before the city council in Crookston, Minnesota. Some city leaders are leaning towards approving the idea as tax revenue from cannabis sales have benefitted many communities. The rules for municipal cannabis stores are still being hammered out but any city with a municipal store will receive eight-percent of the tax revenue collected by the state. A city or town will not be allowed to collect additional tax on their own.
