(Undated) — After two years of warnings about possible rolling blackouts, there are no warnings for this coming winter in the Midwest. MISO, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator says Iowa and 14 other states in the region should have enough power for the Winter season ahead. MISO tracks expected energy needs and supplies and puts out reports twice a year, for Summer and Winter seasons. In 2022 record-breaking heatwaves put the electric grid at risk of rolling blackouts during the Summer. That same Winter record-breaking cold froze natural gas wells, electric lines, and water lines in Texas and caused electric outages across the country.
