(Grand Rapids, MN) — The man who stole Dorothy’s ruby slippers from a northern Minnesota museum won’t spend any time behind bars. Seventy-six-year-old Terry Jon Martin pleaded guilty back in October, admitting that he used a sledgehammer to steal the shoes worn by actress Judy Garland in “The Wizard of Oz.” Martin said he got rid of the slippers after realizing they weren’t made of real rubies. He suffers from chronic COPD and is currently in hospice care. Martin was sentenced to time served on Monday, and ordered to pay restitution to the museum.
