Officer Convicted In Daunte Wright Killing Set To Be Released Today

(Brooklyn Center, MN) — The former officer convicted of shooting and killing Daunte Wright is set to be released. Kim Potter’s release is planned for today. She’s been serving a manslaughter sentence at the Shakopee women’s prison since February 2022. Convicted felons in Minnesota are required to serve two-thirds of their sentences in prison before they are eligible to serve the rest on supervised release. Wright’s mother criticized the length of Potter’s prison term just two weeks ago.
