Palermo Appears In Court

(Lincoln, NE) — The first court appearance is held for Omaha City Councilman Vinny Palermo. Palermo, two retired Omaha police officers and Jack Olson of Council Bluffs were federally indicted last week in connection with alleged wire fraud and other financial schemes. During yesterday’s hearing in federal court in Lincoln, prosecutors cited a wiretapped conversation where Palermo allegedly referred to himself as “the Al Capone of South Omaha.” The “Omaha World Herald” reports that prosecutors also noted that Palermo allegedly lied on a loan application for the Paycheck Protection Program, has an alleged history of domestic violence allegations from women including his current wife, and that he has been on federal probation for failing to file tax returns since 2019.
