Smith: MN Couple Stuck In Brazil After Baby Birth Should Be Home Soon

(Washington, DC) — Democratic Senator Tina Smith says a Minnesota family stranded in Brazil after the birth of their baby should soon be coming home. Cheri Phillips of Cambridge gave birth to her son Greyson three months early during a February trip. She, her husband Chris and their son have been stuck in Brazil for several weeks after officials denied Greyson a birth certificate and passport. Smith gave an update on social media yesterday, saying she’s been working with the Brazilian embassy to cut the red tape involved. Smith says she’s confirmed that Greyson will soon have a passport so the family can finally return home.
