State of Montana Appeals Judge’s Ruling On Abortion Laws

(Helena, MT) — Montana is appealing a judge’s decision to halt a number of new abortion laws in the state. The state filed a notice last week after the Helena judge issued a preliminary injunction against the laws. One of the laws keeps most Medicaid patients from having access to abortions, while another makes it illegal for public funds to go towards abortion care. Once Governor Greg Gianforte put his signature on the bills, a challenge was made by Planned Parenthood, the ACLU of Montana, and other groups.
