State Senator Wants To Ban Parking Minimums In MN

(St. Paul, MN) — A state lawmaker wants to stop local governments from requiring a minimum number of parking spaces for new buildings and developments. State Senator Omar Fateh announced his proposed legislation to ban parking minimums yesterday in St. Paul. Fateh was joined for the announcement by Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, who is proposing a similar law on the federal level. Both lawmakers said eliminating parking minimums will make it cheaper to build housing like apartments, reducing the cost renters will have to pay for their units.
