Suspect In Attack On Congresswoman Ordered Released To Hospital

(Washington, DC) — A federal magistrate judge is ordering the man accused of punching a congresswoman released from jail to an impatient treatment program, but not just yet. The magistrate on Wednesday ordered the man who’s charged with attacking Minnesota Democrat Angie Craig released from jail in Washington, DC only to put the decision on hold pending another hearing. Prosecutors opposed the man’s release from jail, noting 25 bench warrants against him for failing to show up to court in previous cases. The suspect is accused of following Craig into the elevator in her apartment building in February, trying to stop her from leaving, holding her back so she couldn’t reach emergency buttons, and punching her in the chin.
