Suspect In Officer Jamal Mitchell’s Death Wanted, Had Violent Past

(Minneapolis, MN) — The man who police say shot and killed Minneapolis police officer Jamal Mitchell had a violent past and was wanted at the time of the shooting. Court records show Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed served just about five years of an eight year prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a gun. Before that he was convicted of burglary. In 2022, Mohamed was arrested for tossing a gun during a downtown Minneapolis robbery. He was wanted on those charges when police say he went on his shooting spree last week.
