(Des Moines, IA) — Traffic fatalities are on the rise in Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol, there have been 175 traffic fatalities in Iowa so far this year. That’s compared to 159 traffic fatalities during this same time last year. One of the contributing factors is fewer people are buckling up. The Iowa State Patrol reports that nearly sixty-percent of the people killed in traffic crashes this year were not wearing seatbelts.
