Two Montana Laws Blocked Ahead of New Year

(Bozeman, MT) — Two laws aiming to tackle affordable housing in Montana are on hold. A Bozeman judge blocked the laws from taking effect on New Year’s Day after being named in a lawsuit filed by a city-based homeowners group last month. One of the laws in question would allow for developing more homes in existing neighborhoods, making the areas denser with housing. The suit claimed the laws may be unconstitutional, and doesn’t take all sides of the zoning process into account. It went as far as to say those who would represent “quiet, graceful neighborhoods” weren’t invited to the table.
